PowerSkate

The Saint John Skating Club is excited to now offer both Fall and Winter sessions of our PowerSkate program!

PowerSkate is a high-energy program designed specifically for hockey and ringette players looking to take their skating skills to the next level. Building on the foundational skills developed in CanSkate, this program focuses on enhancing balance, control, agility, power, and speed – key components of effective game play.

Through progressive drills and real-game scenario training, skaters will develop stronger, more confident skating techniques that are essential for success on the ice. All sessions are led by NCCP-certified (National Coaching Certification Program) Skate Canada coaches, ensuring high-quality instruction in a safe and supportive environment.

PowerSkate is open to skaters of all ages who have completed at least Stage 4 of CanSkate. Participants must wear hockey skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet, gloves, and bring a stick. Full hockey or ringette gear is optional but encouraged.

To continue building their skills, skaters are encouraged to register for multiple sessions of the PowerSkate program, as each session brings them closer to achieving their performance goals on the ice. Skaters may also wish to attend both PowerSkate as well as CanSkate (Stage 5 and up) programs throughout the season for well-rounded skill development and even faster improvement.
