Volunteer
If you are interested in volunteering with the Saint John Skating Club, we have several ways for you to get involved. As a not-for-profit organization, we rely entirely on the time and energy of our dedicated volunteers. You don’t need to have a child or grandchild in one of our programs to participate — everyone is welcome.
There are many roles to fill, but two of the most impactful are joining our Board of Directors or becoming an On-Ice Volunteer.
Board Member
Joining our Board of Directors is a great way to support the club behind the scenes. We have several positions available, and we’ll work with you to find a role that fits your interests and availability. Some positions involve specific tasks, while others are more general Board Member roles — helping out wherever needed.
As the saying goes, many hands make light work. The more people we have on the Board, the lighter the load for everyone. Our goal is to keep the commitment level for our board members manageable, as we understand that everyone has busy lives.

On-Ice Volunteer
To ensure the success of our skating programs, we aim to maintain a low coach-to-skater ratio. This allows us to give each child the attention and guidance they need.
If you have solid skating skills and are interested in assisting our coaches during PreCanSkate or CanSkate sessions, we’d love to hear from you!
Volunteers must be registered with Skate Canada, which includes an insurance fee. However, this fee is fully reimbursed by the Saint John Skating Club for all committed, consistent volunteers.
Our sessions take place at the following times:
- Monday evenings at Peter Murray Arena
- Wednesday evenings at Stewart Hurley Arena
- Saturday mornings at Peter Murray Arena

If joining the Board of Directors or becoming an On-Ice Volunteer isn’t quite the right fit, but you’d still like to help, we’d love to hear from you!
